Science Fair Participant and Alumni

How has your time and experience in Science Fairs impacted your life?
Science Fair has greatly impacted my life, and the achievements I have made through Science Fair have helped me to obtain scholarships for my post secondary education. Without Science Fair I don’t think I would be where I am today.

Where did you find inspiration for your science projects?
My passion for environmentalism and my observations of the world around me.

Who is someone in science who inspired you? And why?
My Biology 11 teacher Sarah Bacon has been the most inspirational figure for me in terms of science. She taught me how to combine my creative thinking with scientific analysis, and she inspired me to go into a Bachelor of Science.

Can you share a memorable experience you had at a Science Fair?
Being surrounded by students of all ages and backgrounds who are all super passionate about science is my favourite part about Science Fair.

Does an interest in Science run in your family?
My brother has also participated in the Regional Science Fair and went to the Canada-Wide Science Fair. My parents have also supported my passion for science.

What advice would you give to fellow students interested in Science?
Continue to examine the world around you, problem solve, and think creatively. If there is something you are passionate about, you won’t regret exploring this further through Science Fair!

Open Question: Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
I truly am thankful for all of the amazing experiences I have had through Science Fair's. Without these experience I know that I would not be where I am today.

How many years did you participate in Science Fairs? And at what level?
I participated at the Regional level in Grade 5, 6, 7 and 11.
