Summer Position: Marketing Coordinator

Job Title: Marketing Coordinator

Reports to: Program and Volunteer Manager
Science Fair Foundation BC is a registered charity serving communities across BC and the Yukon. Our focus and passion is supporting youth in their exploration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) through local and regional science fairs. As our Marketing Coordinator, you will help us showcase the amazing work of youth from across BC and the Yukon, and support our team in developing resources and tools to expand access and participation of science fairs to youth in every corner of our province.

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and curate content for social media platforms including Facebook, X, YouTube and Instagram
  • Assist in the creation, maintenance and scheduling of compelling content across various marketing channels such as our website, social media, e-newsletters and press releases
  • Work with team members to ensure consistent messaging and approach for external audiences
  • Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, events, objectives and policies
  • Help to maintain our database with partner, supporter, volunteer and donor contact information
  • Assist in the development of instructional guides and media packages for various stakeholder groups
  • Provide support for fundraising efforts and donor reporting requirements
  • Provide virtual administrative, operational and IT support for key stakeholders and partners using various digital platforms
  • Assisting with the day-to-day operations of the organization
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends when required
  • Additional tasks as required

Qualifications:

  • Some post-secondary education with experience in program development, online marketing, communication, or relevant discipline
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills; able to form lasting relationships and provide effective support digitally
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate (written and verbal) independently, digitally, and as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Science fair experience is considered an asset, particularly at the regional or national level

  • Graphic design experience is considered an asset

Other Requirements: 

  • Successful applicant must be able to work remotely, including a functional microphone/headset, computer/laptop and high-speed, reliable internet
  • Successful applicant must pass a Criminal Record Check: Vulnerable Sector

Eligibility: 

  • This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and is conditional upon receiving grant funding. To be eligible for this position, you must:
  • Be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age on the first date of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and registration

Position Details: 

  • This is a temporary part-time position beginning mid-May 2024 and ending late-August 2024 with the possibility of continuing to a permanent part-time position
  • Expected hours of work for the summer position are 30 hours per week with a pay rate of $22 per hour
  • This is a remote position
