Provincial Awards

The Provincial Awards Program is available to all participants of the 13 Regional Science Fairs of BC and the Yukon. The Provincial Awards are generously sponsored by corporations and organizations who support youth’s success in science and technology.

BC Hydro Power Pioneers Award

$100 Cash to Student.

To be awarded to a student(s) in Grades 4 to 12 who creates a project which creatively demonstrates electrical conservation and its environmental, social and economical impacts.

Inaugurated in 1990 with three branches, the BC Hydro Power Pioneers Association carries on a tradition going back over eighty years to the days of B.C. Electric and B.C. Power Commission. All Regional Branches become involved in fundraising and other activities to support both local and provincial charities. Power Pioneers work with appropriate partners for programs that will be of benefit for our members and our communities.

Michael Crooks Physics Prize

$125 Cash to Student

To be awarded to a student(s) in Grades 6 to 12 who has done an outstanding physics-related project.

We are a volunteer organisation of physics teachers of BC (from high schools, colleges, institutes and universities) who work tirelessly to improve how physics is taught in our province. We were founded in 1984 and we are always looking for enthusiastic physics teachers who want to get involved. We love and live physics and we enjoy being BCAPT members.

Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Scholarship

$1900 Senior Post-Secondary Scholarship Nomination

To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student that shows the practical application of scientific principles to identifying and addressing transportation-related issues. This will include environmental effects of transportation projects, such as emission reduction, erosion, invasive species management, habitat destruction, etc. and their mitigation. Other transportation related issues may include, reducing wildlife/vehicle collisions, noise attenuation, managing runoff and road contaminants, road maintenance activities like de-icing, drainage management, handling contaminated soil or road construction materials, etc.
