Program Manager

Job Title: Program Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Science Fair Foundation BC (SFFBC) is a registered charity serving communities across BC and the Yukon. Our focus and passion is supporting youth in their exploration of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) through local and regional science fairs. As our Program Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the existing programs within SFFBC and engaging students, volunteers and educators in the science fairs program in their classrooms, schools and community. You will develop strategies to recruit new youth, volunteers and educators into the science fair program and create a suite of resources to help them adopt science fairs into their communities.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the articulation and implementation of SFFBC’s vision, mission, goals and objectives
  • Collaborate in and lead the end-to-end management of multiple concurrent programs, from concept through production and launch, to ensure timelines, scope, and quality standards are met
  • Coordinate and manage cross-functional contributors, including subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional and e-learning designers, graphic designers, videographers, and facilitators.
  • Identify and develop program resources in consultation with youth, educators and volunteers 
  • Design and facilitate orientation and training programs and resources for volunteers and educators
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders including volunteers, youth, sponsors, outreach organizations, government and academia
  • Attend community, industry and other relevant events and conferences to foster partnership and strategic opportunities
  • Assist Executive Director with programming, strategic planning, budget development, and other tasks as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Some post-secondary education with experience in program development, youth and adult education techniques, communication, or relevant discipline
  • Proven communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to engage and coordinate diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Collaborates easily with colleagues to create positive and productive working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and to meet deadlines with limited direction
  • Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing projects and managing small teams of staff and/or volunteers
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn  
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience hosting and running Zoom workshops
  • Science fair experience is considered a strong asset, particularly at the regional or national level
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Open to occasional work on weekends and evenings to facilitate programs and events

 

Other Requirements:

  • Successful applicant must be able to work remotely, including a functional microphone/headset, computer/laptop and high-speed, reliable internet
  • Successful applicant will be required to pass a Criminal Record Check: Vulnerable Sector
  • Successful applicant must be able to legally work in Canada

 

Position Details:

  • This is a permanent part-time position beginning September, 2026
  • Expected hours of work are 20-24 hours per week
  • Annual compensation is between $40,000 and $45,000 plus extended health benefits
  • This is a remote position
