The 6-week program is intended to help students strengthen their science fair projects and improve performance

VANCOUVER, BC (July 27, 2026) - The Science Fair Foundation BC (SFFBC) is launching its Science Fair Accelerator, a new 6-week program designed to help passionate science fair students strengthen their projects and improve their performance at regional fairs. Applications for the inaugural cohort open August 1, 2026.

“The Accelerator was built to give students the kind of rigorous, judge-informed guidance that can be hard to find on their own,” said Sarah Prade, Executive Director of the Science Fair Foundation BC. “We want students to leave this program not just with a stronger project, but with the confidence and scientific thinking to defend it in front of any judge.”

Designed by a former Canada-Wide Science Fair judge, the Accelerator curriculum is built around the CWSF judging rubric and delivered through six weekly online sessions covering framing and scope, design and iteration, evidence and honesty, real-world application, and scientific communication. Students apply each lesson directly to their own experimental or innovation project, and receive one-on-one mentorship from experienced science fair judges throughout the program.

The program is open to students entering grades 7 through 12 who live in British Columbia or Yukon Territory and already have a well-formed project idea for their 2027 regional science fair, including a hypothesis or problem statement, identified variables, a proposed testing method, and a project timeline.

• Applications open: August 1, 2026
• Applications close: August 31, 2026
• Applicants notified: September 21, 2026
• Program runs: October 19 - November 23, 2026

Fees

• Standard program fee: $450 per project
• Inaugural cohort fee: $100 per project

Financial support is available for students who need it.
