Provincial Awards

The Provincial Awards Program is available to all participants of the 13 Regional Science Fairs of BC and the Yukon. The Provincial Awards are generously sponsored by corporations and organizations who support youth’s success in science and technology.

BC Agriculture in the Classroom Award

$65 Cash to Student

To be awarded to a student in grades 5-12 for an outstanding project that shows the practical application of scientific principles to agriculture.

BC Game Developer’s Innovation Award

One award each: Grades 7-8: $50 | Grades 9-10: $100 | Grades 11-12: $150

To be awarded to the student(s) in Grades 7-12 whose project demonstrates creativity and innovation in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or astronomy.

BC Hydro Power Pioneers Award

$100 Cash to Student

Awarded to a student whose project explores how Conservation, Energy, Electricity, Safety, or Sustainability contribute to environment, economic or social well-being. This award recognizes projects that show how smart energy choices can make life better for people, communities, and the planet. Your project can have the power to help us imagine a cleaner, safer, brighter energy future.

BC Nature Award

Grades K-6: $50 (two awards) | Grades 7-9: $100 (one award) | Grades 10-12: $100 (one award)

To be awarded to the best natural history project done by a student(s). This includes studies of any aspect of natural history, conservation of natural habitats, and/or natural species. An outdoor, nature monitoring or conservation project is strongly encouraged.

Michael Crooks Physics Prize

$125 Cash to Student

To be awarded to a student(s) in Grades 6 to 12 who has done an outstanding physics-related project.

We are a volunteer organization of physics teachers of BC (from high schools, colleges, institutes and universities) who work tirelessly to improve how physics is taught in our province. We were founded in 1984 and we are always looking for enthusiastic physics teachers who want to get involved. We love and live physics and we enjoy being BCAPT members.

SCWIST (Society for Canadian Women in Science & Technology) Award

$100 Cash to Student

To be given to young women and gender diverse youth, preferably in Grades 8 to 10, whose project shows the greatest curiosity, ingenuity and innovation in design. The award is intended to encourage the student’s interest in science. A student may not receive this award more than once. Students in all grades are eligible (preference given to students in Grades 8 to 10) .

Genome BC Scholarship

$1000 Senior Post-Secondary Scholarship Nomination

To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student who has developed a science and technology project focused on areas of life sciences, including but not limited to human health, forestry, fisheries, agriculture, bioenergy, mining and the environment. The winner must pursue a science degree in British Columbia.

Ministry of Transportation and Transit Scholarship

$1900 Senior Post-Secondary Scholarship Nomination

To be awarded to a Grade 11 or 12 student that shows the practical application of scientific principles to identifying and addressing transportation-related issues. This will include environmental effects of transportation projects, such as emission reduction, erosion, invasive species management, habitat destruction, etc. and their mitigation. Other transportation related issues may include, reducing wildlife/vehicle collisions, noise attenuation, managing runoff and road contaminants, road maintenance activities like de-icing, drainage management, handling contaminated soil or road construction materials, etc.
